Preveli beach, best known for the unique combination of the palm forest and the river that flows into the sea through the beach, is located in the south area of Rethymnon county and east of Plakias.
At the beach there are plenty to do and see, as you can either relax on the beach, swim in the river, wonder along the gorge that follows the river or visit the small chapel of St. Savvas.
You can access the beach only on foot, walking one of the two paths that lead to the coast. The main road, a few hunded meters before Preveli monastery splits, leading in two roadways. The safest option is the asphalted one which leads to a parking spot.
Before or after you visit the beach, remember to pay a visit also at Preveli Monastery. It’s on your way and it would be a pity to miss it. Try to wear something appropriate on your way in, gaze the wonderful view from above and learn the place’s great history.
